“Iron-clad friends, let’s help each other and share weal and woe”. On May 6, the secretariat of the China-ASEAN Science & Technology Industry Cooperation Committee(abbreviated as CASTC) made an emergent donation of "health and medical supplies" to the commercial counsellors and consuls from ASEAN embassies and consulates in China, as well as to ASEAN committee members and organizations for helping ASEAN countries fight against the COVID-19 pandemic.

This is an unprecedented challenge across borders, regardless of nationality or ethnicity, rich or poor. People of all countries are working together to batter against this life-threatening enemy — the Novel Coronavirus.
In April, during the very crucial period of fighting against the pandemic in ASEAN countries, Mr. Wang Jiwu, Chinese chairman of the CASTC, proposed that the Committee would provide needed materials of pandemic prevention and control for ASEAN friends and urgently donate 50,000 disposable surgical masks to the Committee’s ASEAN members. Once the proposal was made, the secretariat of the CASTC received the material demands from the National Chamber of Commerce and Industry of Brunei Darussalam, the Embassy of the Lao People's Democratic Republic in China, the Planning and Economic Integration Office of the Lao Chamber of Commerce and Industry, Thousand Islands Business, Embassy of the Republic of the Union of Myanmar, Embassy of the Republic of Indonesia, Royal Thai Embassy in China, Embassy of the Socialist Republic of Viet Nam in China, the Consulate General of the Republic of the Philippines in Guangzhou, the Consulate General of the Lao People's Democratic Republic in Nanning, Consulate General of the Republic of the Union of Myanmar in Nanning, the International Chamber of Commerce of Philippine Silk Road, the Philippine Communications and Technology Committee, Cambodia T.O Group, K&H Financial Services company and nearly 60 units, organization and Committee members. Donations are now continuously dispatched.
In the "pandemic-fighting" period, such a mutual assistance with loving heart has never been interrupted between China and ASEAN countries. “Iron-clad friends, let’s help each other and share weal and woe.” In the face of COVID-19, CASTC has kept working with ASEAN countries to fight against the pandemic, forging ahead and tiding over the difficulties together.
